Don’t Wait. Apply for Federal Assistance.

If your property was damaged by the May 21-27 severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, landslides and mudslides throughout Kentucky, you can now apply for FEMA assistance.

You may be eligible for home repair assistance or other critical needs assistance to help you recover from the disaster.

Don’t wait. Apply as soon as you can. Go online to Disaster Assistance dot G O V, use the FEMA app, or call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-6-2-1-3-3-6-2 from 7 a.m. to midnight local time every day. That number again is 1-800-6-2-1-3-3-6-2.

Due to the recent storms on Sunday, May 26th, I have ordered a State of Emergency. We have trees down all over the county, due to widespread straight-line winds and a focused path of tornadic activity. We are contracting with a debris removal company to pick up the tree debris, which will be burned at two designated locations within the county. Those locations are not open yet because of stipulations that will need approval to begin. We will advise when those locations become available, as soon as we are made aware. Tree debris ONLY will be picked up from all state, county and city road right of ways throughout Muhlenberg. The debris needs to be cut into pieces that can be loaded easily. Please place debris within 10 feet of the road and try to keep it out of the ditches to avoid flooding issues, in the event the debris isn’t cleared before a major rainfall. We are unable pick up any construction materials. You will need to transport those materials to a landfill outside of Muhlenberg, at this time.
